Caraway, The Grand New Delhi

There is a strong reason behind the 5 stars not getting involved in major marketing of their individual restaurants and it a simple idea that the food speaks for itself, this is why they have stood tall year after year and decade after decade with the same menu and consistency of stirring the age-old classics out of the their pot.

So today we have Caraway from The Grand New delhi located in Vasant kunj. The property is well-known to anyone who is regular to umpteen number of events being held across the city as majority of them heppen right here all thanks to their beautiful gardens and scenic locale. Speaking of Caraway it’s the dedicated Indian restaurant of The Grand which manages to stir up some great dishes and seems to be a perfect spot to go for a family dinner or maybe with someone you wish to impress.

The menu holds most of the time-tested dishes which would be a delight for most of the mature clientele, I started mine with paya yakhni hara masala which is a nice soup of mutton paya works as a great appetizer always; For the finger food selection I had my go on Achari zaituni khumbh which is button mushrooms halved and stuffed with spinach and mastered to melt in mouth, this is the apt choice for any veg lover and even the non-vegetarian masses would be amazed by the quality of it.

What I had next is like an act of finding a needle in haystack, the highly expensive and hard to fetch Gucci mushrooms done in tandoori bharwan style, for the ones who are unaware they come from Morchella family and are mostly a part of most sophisticated French dining and can only be fetched at high altitude and are found in extreme rarity. For the carnivore selection I tried the Atta chicken which is a complete chicken wrapped in banana leaves then laced with flour and grilled which was delight to savour.

The main course had the Awadhi nihari with sumptuous serving and delectable taste bursting in my mouth but the best was yet to be plated and I was informed by the team that mostly people miss this considering it ordinary gulkand ke jamun which was everything but ordinary the taste was unparalleled mostly people go for blueberry kheer which is good too but the former has no match at all.

  1. Yummy as always. I’m curious though – when you’re eating the Atta chicken, do you have to eat the banana leaf surrounding it?!

    • Lol , i’m everything but a horse .. It is just used to keep the moisture intact has to be peeled off before consumption. I love the way you look into every detail of my blog… Appreciated.
