Pamphilos is a Greek word which means “friend of everyone” and that is the name cum approach of a new place in GK-1,N block market. It is a niche market tucked in one southern end of Greater Kailash market. The owner/partner Yasheel Singh says he wants to revive the lost part of customer service and satisfaction, back in market where customer is God and everything revolves around him. The food, service and music (barring the pre-set days) could be tweaked as per the customers demand.
The place has taken up two floors in N block where OTB (out of the box) used to exist with similar base work. In next 2 weeks span, the place’s open top would be the sweet spot to sit and dine with close friends and family when its not too cold or hot.
My order started with chef’s recommended chi mocktail which is a perky combination of Guava juice, pineapple juice and rock salt giving it a very tangy yet smooth flavour, away from the usual pineapple juice that might give you an itchy throat. The Murgh Fazli is quiet a catchy name already for something as easy going as chicken; The dish is de-boned chicken, minced and boiled, stuffed with cream and cheese served with onion soaked in hung curd. The chicken is soft and carries the “melt in mouth” effect.
The Pamphilos roll is a slightly different take on usual spring rolls with Papaya Julienne stuffed in them. Not too exciting but nothing complaint worthy also, although the Hussaini seekh kawab is a miss with extra dash of salt making the meat lose all its sheen.
The Pizza sampler is the most diverse option across the menu which can get you slices of up to 4 pizza in one. Although the 4 toppings are pre-decided by the chef but they are mere suggestions and can be altered by anyone as per their choice, I opted for Vegetarian Nirvana, Barbeque chicken, Chilli prawn and Tandoori all star. The pizza base is Stone fired and not wood fired which does not give it the smoky flavour but sure makes a tremendous pizza.
From the mains It was the highly recommended Peri-Peri chicken which is scrumptious and delightful although the extra dash of lime was not required but it still is a winner in all. The Hungarian Lamb Goulash was hands down the best thing i had put in my mouth in all 3 hours, even after eating everything else, i licked the plate clean; The signs are clear i guess. The Dessert had Crumbled Banana caramel which is a delightful smooth dessert a lot of us would love for its sheer simplicity.
The PLF (pocket loosening factor) is 3000 INR for two, the place can be contacted on (011)-33105313 and the suggested orders are Murgh Fazli, Pizza sampler and Hungarian Lamb Goulash.
